Now here's an interesting leaflet going through letterboxes in 'West Oxford and Abingdon' from a wannabe MP. It states that the Secretary of State (if re-elected) will 'scrap the expressway plans'. (we'll hold them to that!)

Now - two questions you can answer:
1: Who's the wannabe MP standing against?
2: Who has been the MP who has campaigned hardest against the Expressway and even had a debate in Parliament about it.? That MP sounds like they should get the credit here?

Oh what a surprise... They are the same person!

It seems like he is trying to take the credit for something his opponent has done... surely no-one would be that cheaply opportunistic?

YESSS!
This may not be the end of the Expressway and the campaign against it, but it's absolutely a huge step forward! Thanks to everyone who has campaigned, written letters and more.

Now we need to push for cancellation. The struggle continues!

This is a first step but it hasn’t addressed the one million housing target or electrification of EWR. They don’t need to review the expressway, they need to cancel it!

Some of you will hopefully have responded to the 'Connecting Oxford' consultation document: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/connectingoxford

Lets hope that all our councillors note what their document says on page 17 when having any future discussion on the ExWay :

‘Wider or new roads can give short-term relief but only add to traffic growth, congestion and pollution in the long term’ ...
