Dr Hazel Dawe, Chair of the No Expressway Alliance, will be speaking at the County Council meeting on 2nd April. She says:
On Tuesday 2nd April, campaigners will be picketing Oxfordshire County Council from 9.00am, before the County Council meeting. Motions up for discussion include opposing the Cambridge-Oxford Expressway and calling for radically improved policies on the Climate Emergency. I will be speaking on the Expressway for the No Expressway Alliance. Supporters of our Alliance and members of the many groups concerned about Climate Change are expected to attend.
Oxfordshire County Council needs to follow the lead set by Oxford City Council. On the 28th January, the Oxford City Council agreed that the Climate Emergency required fundamental policy change for the Council. Similarly, and recognising the environmental impact of any Expressway route, the Council opposed the Expressway. Both motions were passed unanimously. It is now for the County Council to stand up and protect Oxfordshire from these two very serious threats to our environment.
